Vodafone 360 M1 and H1 Samsung Smartphones Launched

Vodafone 360 M1South Korean mobile phone giant Samsung has lent its presence to Vodafone’s 360 service launch with a couple of touchscreen smartphone exclusively customized for the Vodafone 360.  Called Vodafone 360 M1 and its more upscale twin the H1, the new handset can be had free with an affordable contract with the UK carrier.  Considering its feature set that you can get for free and the Vodafone 360 service replacing the 7-year old Vodafone Live, it may be a good idea to get into the Vodafone 360 world at this time.

Samsung Smartphone Features

The Vodafone 360 M1 is a quad band GSM and dual band UMTS on 3G with HSPA high speed data connectivity.  You won’t get WiFi which the heftier H1 has, but you still get Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR ad A2DP for wireless data connectivity that includes wireless stereo earphones.  Its 3.2” TFT resistive touchscreen display sports Wide VGA resolution with a 16-million color depth while its imaging gets 3.15 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and 4x zoom with geo tagging from its GPS receiver.

What’s remarkable about both Samsung smartphones is that they run on the half-remembered LiMo platform (Linux Mobile).  This is the same open source Linux OS used in Motorola’s successful RAZR and ROKR models that have been large unnoticed with the emergence of a similar Linux-based Android OS.

Vodafone’s 360 service seems to take advantage of the M1 and H1 features to bring a tight integration between your phone contacts and the various VOIP, instant messaging and social networking sites into one 3D homescreen location.  With colleagues on the same Vodafone network, multimedia files can be exchanged with seamless ease.

Taking the Vodafone Plunge

Vodafone may not be the best UK carrier out there, but it seems to put some effort to bringing better service to its subscribing averaging 300 million worldwide.  Replacing its 7-year old Vodafone Live with the 360 may be a good start but if only for the wonderful Samsung smartphones in its stable, it may be a good to consider getting into a Vodafone contract this Christmas.

BeamReader PDF Viewer; To Be Pre-loaded on Android Devices In Future

BeamReaderUsers of Android mobile phones now have something to be delighted about. Coming close to Christmas, SLG Mobile has now released Beam Reader PDF viewer which is a new application for Android devices such as the new Motorola Milestone. Based on the information received from the company, this new innovation will allow users to view PDF email attachments or documents without the need of internet connectivity or assistance from server to process requests.

Its ability to display actual fonts in the documents without the need to reformat are one of the features that makes the BeamReader PDF viewer stand out from other Android applications. It will now afford business users the opportunity to view PDF files on their mobile just as they will with their desktop. This kind of application is already available for blackberry users so should not be new to them. The company claimed that the release of the BeamReader for Android is meant to showcase its expertise in PDF rendering technology which has been maximized for Java based mobile devices.

The company also stated “BeamReader embodies the most advanced on-device PDF rendering technology available for the Android platform. Some of the key product features include: fast full fidelity rendering, intuitive granular zoom and document navigation, support for all types of PDF documents (e.g. scanned, faxed, schematics, etc.), support for encrypted and password protected documents, text search within the document, support for bookmarks, and support for embedded links. BeamReader for Android can be downloaded directly from the Android Market where it is currently available as a free beta,”

It is also worth mentioning that SLG Mobile is holding talks with various phone manufacturers in order to have its BeamReader PDF viewer pre-installed on various Android mobile devices in the future since the application works efficiently on almost all Operating Systems.
