Starting with the Touchscreen P520, Samsung’s first Armani mobile phone to match the LG Prada, then the M7500 Emporio Armani a year later, Samsung teams up with the Italian high fashion house Armani to deliver their latest collaborative effort – the Samsung B7620 Giorgio Armani – the first Armani Smartphone ever.
The B7620 makes a bolder and louder fashion statement than your typical slim and sexy fashion phones with a gold bodied full QWERTY slider touchscreen that can be considered the fat lady of fashion phones. At a heavy 164 grams, it demolishes any preconceived notion about what a sleek and sexy fashion accessory is. But Samsung is obviously targeting a middle-aged and more affluent segment of the fashion crowd with a serious business feature-rich handset that is as bold as it is brainy.
Outstanding Upscale Features
Making a grand fashion statement is not just skin deep, the B7620’s heft houses a powerful Samsung processor clocked at 800 MHz with a dedicated GPU and supported by a rather modest 192 MB RAM but that’s all it needs to deliver its goods. You still have 8 GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB from a microSD slot. Running on the Windows Mobile 6.5, it’s a 3G phone with HSDAP/HSUPA as well as WiFi for broadband internet speeds, A-GPS and Bluetooth 2.0. A DivX-certified multimedia player and FM radio brings entertainment to the handset while its 5 megapixel autofocus camera delivers its competent imaging feature.
What really stands out is its vibrant 3.5” wide VGA AMOLED touchscreen that has made waves with its Omnia II smartphone. The Samsung B7620 Giorgio Armani is basically the B7610 Omnia Pro in a more ostentatious dress-up and given a more generous internal memory plus a 2-step 3-degree tilting display when fully slid out so you can have a more ergonomic typing and viewing of movies on its wide screen display.
Availability
We expect the B720 to hit the stores during the last quarter of the year in time for holiday shopping. But the world’s first Armani smartphone won’t be for everyone. It’s equally hefty ₤700 SIM-free price tag is sure to shoo away plebeians but not the Armani wearing patricians and aristocrats.
It came, it saw, it conquered; that is what can be said about appearance of the iPhone in Korean market. Warm reception that the device from Apple has received in the country has already heightened the heart of the manufacturers. Considerably large number of customers are lining up for buying the handset from KT, the Apple device exclusive carrier.
Multiple reasons contribute to adoption of Apple device in the Korean market. Most prominent among them is the low price offered. A simple comparison with the prices of other mobile phones available in the market can clarify the position quite aptly. For instance the prices of 32 GB iPhone in 3GS model come at $317 if one signs up for a two years contract with KT. The monthly plan costs a person $38 per month. Devices obtained from other vendors are even more expensive in nature.
Even this one attribute alone has contributed quite significantly in enhancing demands for the apple iPhones all over the world. Reportedly KT has already bagged nearly 60,000 orders on Apple iPhones alone. It might even inspire competing companies like LG Electronics and Samsung to go for a price cut on the sale of smart phones they are currently selling in Korea.
That is why the experts and economists foresee a price war commenced by the iPhones in the mobile phone markets in Korea. Such predictions are likely to come up true as it seems from the current high demands for the device. Experts like Dan Butterfield of iPhonAsia; ‘the country consists of a group of highly sophisticated consumers that are eager to enjoy the advantages provided by superior user interface as well as applications provided by iPhone.
In fact these unique attributes have opened up the avenue for Apple to showcase their iPhone specific efficiency and capabilities for public viewing.
