It is no longer news that Mobile phone carrier, Verizon Wireless launched its first ever handsets which are powered by Google’s Android Operating system, The Motorola Droid (to be released as the Milestone in the UK). The device is said to be an epitome of the platform (Android 2.0), and the HTC Droid Eris, both powered by older flavor of Android 1.5 version.
Any user who wishes to purchase the Motorola Droid or an HTC Droid Eris from Verizon will also get a second device for free on a two year contract agreement. Please note that not even one Droid was amongst the devices being given out as free. This promotion tagged BOGO (Buy One Get One) kicks off today and allows buyers who purchase a Droid Eris from Verizon will also have the possibility of getting a second one for free provided the two year contract agreement for each of the phones is signed.
That Verizon wireless will include the Droid Eris was just a rumour recently spread, however one can notice the pricey $99 handset displayed in the carrier’s website under the title ‘Buy the DROID ERIS by HTC and get a select phone FREE’ next to it the same as the HTC DROID Eris showed in the BOGO offer. I am not sure there could be a better deal than this for Christmas, Having two such unique phones for the price of one is just ephemeral.
Big Red describes the device “The new Droid Eris by HTC combines performance and functionality in one sleek package. Eris offers the HTC Sense UI on a 3.2”, touch screen zoom capability, a virtual QWERTY keyboard, and a 3.5mm headset jack in addition to the Virtual Keys (Home, Menu, Back, Search). The ultra–slim Eris can filter your Inbox, and stay connected securely with your office via HTC Sync. Take advantage of Wi-Fi connectivity and its 5MP camera w/auto focus and video capture. Social networking is a breeze with easy access to your Favorite contacts, YouTube and Facebook.”
With the rush of Android smartphones out in the markets, the equally stable Linux-based LiMo (Linux Mobile) OS gets eclipsed with fewer smartphones using it these days.
