Samsung has just announced that it is adding to its growing number of female oriented phones. The mega company has recently added two more, the S7070 and the S5150. The S7070 is a bit more featured packed, while the Samsung S5150 Diva appears to be aimed at a market prepared to spend a little less money.
The S5150 is a clamshell flip phone. It comes complete with a 2.2 inch, main display screen. There is an “invisible” secondary screen which displays the time, date and battery power. The second display screen can be found underneath the mirror panel. The phone comes with QVGA resolution and a 3 megapixel camera. This particular phone is very slim and easy to handle and comes with a luminous case. The back side of the phone is perhaps where it stands out most stylistically. It has a 3D quilted pattern along the back. If you have seen pictures of the S7070, you will find that the S5150 pattern looks very similar.
Besides the exterior, other ‘feminine’ touches include an ‘etiquette mode’ which allows users to silence their phone really quickly. It also makes available a wish list, where individuals can type in their shopping lists. Users will also be able to use specialized fonts to make their letters a little more girly and ‘diva like.’ Photographs taken with the phone can also be retouched to create more unique and artistic pictures.
The Samsung 5150 Diva comes with Bluetooth, a MicroSD slot and speaker phone. One very unique feature which speaks to the unique position of women in society is the “fake call” capability. If a lady (or young girl) finds themselves in an uncomfortable situation, they can fake a call and create a ready made excuse to get out of it.
The S5150 has yet to be priced. What is known is that it will be available during the first part of 2010. The phone is projected to hit Russia, the Ukraine, the Netherlands and other parts of Europe in January. China and Southeastern Asia should get the phone next.
