Quick List of Upcoming Androids

Google’s Android operating system is currently the most talked about mobile platform. With the announcement of version 2.2 Froyo at the recent Google I/O conference, we got to see the amazing new features, speed improvements and even Flash compatibility on this open source OS.

The only thing now is actually buying an Android smart phone that tickles our fancy, and with the current choices available from HTC, Sony and more, there is certainly a lot to be happy about. But if none of these existing devices excite you, then you might want to read about upcoming Android smart phones and see if on suits your tastes.

The first big name on the list is the Dell Streak. It is already coming out at the end of the week so for any upcoming phone listings, this entry offers the least amount of waiting. Still, there is much more to the Streak than just an early release date, it runs on a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, has a 5 mega pixel camera and a whopping 5 inch capacitive touch screen display.

But if going big is not your thing, then you might want to size down with Sony Ericsson’s X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro. Both of these smart phones come with a neat little 2.55 inch TFT touch screen display and a decent 600MHz CPU. The Pro comes with an extra treat: a slide out QWERTY keyboard perfect for those who love typing on their phones.

Speaking of Sony Ericsson, the Japanese Swedish joint venture has let it known that they have another Android smart phone coming soon and the next one will be using their impressive Walkman technology. We’re expecting a device that is about the size of the X10 Minis, but with a little more hardware power under the hood.

Sony Ericsson’s MWC Surprises

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 MiniNothing makes us happier than seeing news about brand new phones. This is why Sony Ericsson has given everyone a nice big helping of joy when they brought out three totally unexpected devices during the MWC.

While it was already expected that the Android smart phone XPERIA X10 with its Snapdragon processor would be present at the event, no one knew it would also come with its successor, the XPERIA X10 Mini and the never before announced X10 Mini Pro.

The X10 Mini was previously rumored as the SE XPERIA Robyn. The X10 Mini Pro on the other hand, was totally unheard of before now. Looks like Sony Ericsson is truly expanding the market range for their devices. The X10 Mini is a significantly budget friendly revision of the high end XPERIA X10 which is not meant for general use (no matter how good the specs of the X10 are). The X10 Mini also cuts down on the large size of the X10 which makes it ideal for carrying around and storing in a bag.

The Mini Pro is a QWERTY keyboard version of the X10. This slide out variant provides plenty of accessibility for users that engage in plenty of messaging and typing purposes. Initial images of the X10 Mini and the Mini Pro showcase the many different colors of the devices.

It has been confirmed that it will be using the old Android 1.6 Donut operating system, though it is expected that an update to version 2.0 Éclair or higher will be made available soon. So far, Sony believes that the X10 Mini is as small as today’s current technology can go. They still managed to pack plenty of hardware into the small device too.

New Windows Phone from Sony Ericsson is a Greenheart Device

Sony Ericsson AspenIts new mobile phone day today and it looks like the old Sony Ericsson Naite just got revamped into the Aspen. Well, it is all speculation for now as SE has yet to confirm that the Naite did undergo a name change; but one thing is for sure, the WinMo 6.5.3 Aspen is good to go on Q2 this year.

The Windows Mobile phone is a great addition to the stellar lineup of mobile devices for Sony Ericsson this year. They already have two impressive Android smart phones in the form of the XPERIA X10 and the XPERIA Robyn. For Symbian, the U-series will get started off with the Vizaz this March to be followed by the Kanna.

With the XPERIA X2 currently not taking much time in the spotlight, Sony Ericsson will be shifting WinMo focus with the Aspen. This smart phone looks very business-like with its hard edged form, solid lines and heavyset look. The device has a 2.4 inch touch screen display and a full QWERTY keyboard. Expect to be able to type long messages and emails on this phone.

Aside from the WinMo OS features, the Aspen will also come with integrated web applications for social networking websites and email as well as the PlayNow feature. It has been reported that the phone is able to handle 3D games with no problems.

Being a Greenheart device, you do not need to worry about the carbon footprint of this Sony gadget because it is made of over 50% recycled plastic and no toxic chemicals. The packaging is minimal and optimized to conserve fuel and the manual is in digital format in the phone (no printed version, saving paper and ink).

Get a sneak peek of the initial specs and features of this impressive little business phone from Know Your Mobile.

Sony Ericsson is bringing a new WinMo Phone

Sony Ericsson AspenSony Ericsson has not yet abandoned the Windows Mobile operating system. Despite the fact that the XPERIA X2 is in mobile phone limbo (thanks to an untimely launch delay that go it pulled out of Vodafone’s lineup), SE will be bringing a new WinMo phone out sometime this Q2 2010.

The Sony Ericsson Aspen uses the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Maldives operating system. So far, exact details on the Maldives version of the WinMo OS are still scarce, but most reports point to a more capacitive touch screen friendly interface. Considering that the version 6 series of the OS has been geared towards stylus users, a graphic update that allows for finger friendly controls is a welcome sight.

So far, only HTC has been able to make a truly successful WinMo phone by skinning the OS with their own HTC Sense user interface. SE, on the other hand, will be using the panels UI seen originally in the XPERIA series for the Aspen.

Aside from the WinMo OS, another great aspect of the Aspen is that it will be part of Sony’s Greenheart series of devices. This means that the device is compliant with the eco-friendly standards of Sony Ericsson making this business phone an excellent choice for the eco-conscious. It is made of over 50% recycled plastic and only water borne paint, though despite the choice of materials, the visual and physical form of the device is indistinguishable from normal mobile phones.

This device comes with a 2.4 inch touch screen and a physical QWERTY keyboard. It’s a business phone through and through, images show a choice between a silver and black version of the device. It is also reported that the Aspen will come with a 3.2 mega pixel camera.

Get more details on the SE aspen from the source.

Tech freaks, this one’s for you!

XPERIA2_03The Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 is clearly the next big phone which is to be released in the 4th quarter of this year for a yet unknown price. Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 Reviews have been raving on about it, so let’s check out what’s under the hood.

The hype has been on ever since a round of unofficial photos had got leaked onto the internet. Just like all mobile phone lovers out there, we have been waiting so eagerly to get our hands on this phone and, finally, after a lot of waiting, here it is!

The phone has a large number of top – end features and a large proportion of these features are the industry benchmarks. The X2 is unique in that it is the only Windows Mobile OS phone so far to have a whooping 8 megapixel camera with WVGA recording. The phone is also unique in another sense. It is the only phone with a full QWERTY keyboard to have an 8 megapixel camera as well, so that’s that!

The phone is capable of being used on all 2G and 3G networks, meaning that you can take your phone with you to whatever country you go to. The phone is capable of connecting to the internet by way of EDGE, 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 2 Mbps HSUPA. The phone is a slide – and – tilt QWERTY which has a touchscreen as well. The phone is fairly slim at just 16 mm. Before you start commenting on this aspect, you should note that the phone also incorporates a very spacious QWERTY keyboard. However, the phone is extremely heavy at 155 grams and might feel uncomfortable if you are wearing a pair of tight jeans. The 8 megapixel camera has touch focus as well as auto focus. The phone’s internal memory can be expanded to 32 GB by using a memory card. Keep an eye out for any good XPERIA X2 contract deals so you don’t miss out on this great phone.

Sony Ericsson Jalou. Sloth

Ah, when oh when will they ever (ever) [ever] learn. Phones and high fashion do not mix. As though previous failures – LG + Prada, Samsung + Armani, Motorola + Dolce & Gabbana’s hideous gold RAZR – haven’t been enough to convince them, Sony Ericsson are now blundering into this dangerous territory with the Sony Ericsson Jalou.

So, before telling you what we think of the Sony Ericsson Jalou, why is it that we can confidently state that high fashion and small mobile communication devices don’t mix? Well, easy.

1.High fashion is about producing very low numbers of products (normally just one) using the very highest quality materials… Mobile phones are made in their millions. Out of plastic
2.Fashion’s dresses are worn by the most beautiful people in the world… Most people who buy phones are called Sharon and live in Essex
3.People who design clothes for the best labels are paid millions because they are truly, exceptionally talented… People who design phones aren’t, because they’re noticeable

We could go on, but that’s a point proved, we reckon. It’s not that the Jalou is all that a bad phone when it comes down to it. It’s average in terms of what going on inside, and is nice and dinky (have a little look at this Sony Ericsson Jalou review for a full run down of what’s on offer). It’s just that it’s so… well… so darned ugly. Like really, actually, truly, utterly hideous. It’s like if someone, for a laugh, decided to let Sloth from the Goonies onto a catwalk dressed in a fancy outfit and shouted, “look, look everyone, he’s amazing, he’s so gorgeous.” And everyone would point and laugh. But no matter how much the pointer shouted, no one would ever believe that he was gorgeous.

So there we have it. The Sony Ericsson Jalou = Sloth from the Goonies, in a dress. You heard it here first.
