HTC Hero. Enter the factorium

The HTC Hero is the first phone to be carrying HTC Sense, the new User Interface that all HTC phones in the foreseeable future will be launching with. However, there are a few things we’d like to point out about it before you get too excited. You may have already got excited by looking at sites such as the official product overview, or by coming across HTC Hero review‘s like this, but we want to temper all that excitement with a little fact-based work. Yes, we really are that sad, and this is indeed how we get our kicks. That’s why you love us.

Fact number 1 – The HTC Sense is a User Interface, a skin, if you like, put over the Android OS that supplies a little jazz, a modicum of razzmatazz. It is not, however much HTC might try and insist, some kind of revolutionary new thing called a ‘User Experience.’ Calling it so just proves a little how HTC are trying a little to hard to generate buzz for the HTC Hero.

Fact number 2 – Most of the features in this so-called spiffingly new User Interface have been seen elsewhere, either on other manufacturer’s phone, or even on HTC’s own handsets. The ‘Stay Close’ group of features, for example, are basically the same as the Nokia 5800′s Contacts Bar. The ‘Make it Mine’ set of features is simply the terribly groundbreaking ability to… wait for it… customise your homescreen and other menus. Oooohhhh.

Fact number 3 – According to some marketing buff or other who’s name we can’t even be bothered to copy, “Sense is a distinct experience created to make HTC phones more simple for people to use, leaving them saying, it just makes sense.” No, it isn’t. No, it doesn’t. It’s a decent enough User Interface, that leaves us saying, it’s a decent enough User Interface.

So there we have it. Your daily dose of fact. Straight from us to you, for free, with love. Don’t get us wrong, this is a pretty decent phone. Just nothing revolutionary. Out sometime very soon.

HTC Magic. Boxing unclever

Being a keen boxer… wait, that’s not true.

Being a keen boxing fan… wait, that’s a lie as well.

Being the kind of occasional boxing match watcher who can name at least three boxers other than Mike Tyson and Frank Bruno (that’s better), we know the danger of the old one-two. The first punch that weakens you up, then the second one coming in and knocking you out. And we fear that, as lovely as the HTC Magic is, there’s two things that really wind us up. And fair enough, as you’ll see, these things aren’t that major, more lightweight than heavyweight, but being punched twice is never pleasant whoever’s doing in the punching.

First though, don’t get us wrong: the HTC Magic is a far from bad phone. In fact, being the best currently available option for those of you who want Google’s magnificent Android OS, it’s a very decent phone indeed. With it’s v1.5 of Android, it’s light weight, thin body, GPS, G-sensor and all that jazz, it’s more than decent (read this HTC Magic Review for a full spec-attack).

But, keep your chin up, because here’s the first fist on its way: there’s no 3.5mm jack socket. Come on, HTC! Is it really that hard to stick one of these little holes in the thing? Do you not think that most people these days are wanting to use their phones as their music players rather than carrying around another mobile device… Anyway, too late to worry about that, here’s the second fist: kaboom, and it’s the miniscule tap on the jaw of only 512MB of internal memory. 512MB! COME ON, HTC, were you high? The Samsung i7500 (which, fair enough, isn’t out yet) is packing 8GB. And we’re not even going to mention the iPhone….

So there we have it. You may still be standing, you may even not give jot about those two things, but for us, we’re sore. Have a little look at the HTC Official page if you want to go some more rounds with the Magic.

HTC Snap. Average dog seeks new home

A press release is normally the place where companies inflate, exaggerate, paper over or bend the truth. So we have to say we were impressed when the press release accompanying the HTC Snap (known as the HTC S522 Stateside) found it’s way into our inbox. Full, as it was, of outright lies. The HTC Snap is not, as they claim “effortlessly elegant.” Nor is it something you should be “proud to display, no matter where your schedule has you running” (and in our book you really shouldn’t be showing off your phone whilst running anyway.) It’s downright functional. If not even a little ugly.

And this is where we struggle to see the point of the HTC Snap. If you want a business phone, why wouldn’t you go for the Nokia E71, or the Blackberry Curve? Let’s say you want a dog. So you go to the pet store, see that there are several types of dog that will all deal with my emails, Qwerty-typing needs and 3G networking. However, one dog is particularly ugly, and kind of plasticky. And has a Tab button where the ‘A’ button should be so you keep on hitting that instead. Why would I choose this (admittedly very odd) dog over the others on sale?

Maybe we’re being too harsh. The HTC Snap does everything it needs to, and does it pretty well. There’s a vaguely interesting new feature called the Inner Circle that let’s you collate and easily access messages from close contacts. “Steamlined communication” as HTC will have it. Common sense is what we say. And it is relatively light, at 120 grams. The Qualcomm processor is more than up to the tasks you’ll be setting it. There’s bluetooth 2.0, QWERTY keyboard, a very tasty 1500mAh Li-Ion battery, 2MP digital camera with video recording, a microSD card slot… but… but… that’s it. It’s nothing special. But then it’s nothing awful. Just average. And definitely not effortlessly elegant. Check out an HTC Snap review here. And even the salesman in this video below struggles to find any excitement (apologies for the background noise – mobile phone conferences are annoyingly noisy places!):

HTC Touch Diamond 2

Would there be a single HTC Touch Diamond 2 owner who wanted to see an upgraded version of his phone? Surely not. Well HTC didn’t really care about that and went ahead and showcased the Diamond II@ the MWC 2009.
The HTC Touch Diamond 2 is fairly bigger than the original one, but the display and resolution have been given a lift. So while it really isn’t the smallest WM communicator around, considering most of its features, it’s quite a petite phone.
The HTC Touch Diamond 2 runs on WinMo 6.1, has a microSD card slot, 3.2” TFT-LCD screen with a resolution of 480×800. It also has HSDPA connectivity, the usual GPRS and EDGE as well. Bluetooth is also there with stereo functionality, as is Wi-Fi. An internal GPS antenna is there as well. The camera is a 5MP one with auto focus, while the video-call camera is a VGA camera. However, it has to be mentioned that it’s only 13.7mm, which is a fairly good size, considering most normal phones are fairly thicker than the Diamond II.
However, a small niggle is the touch-sensitive strip at the bottom of the front part of the phone. HTC seems to have wanted that unique feature, but it really didn’t work out because some playing for about 10 minutes and I didn’t really understand its purpose.
However, the main new features are the Push Internet and the People centric – communication.
I’m sure you’ve had experience of how slow mobile internet can get and the way phone bills spiral when using them. This feature basically downloads the contents of some pages and allows you to have a look at them when you are offline. This is just a rough idea, but I’m sure you’ve got the hang of it.
The second feature is something that has long been due in WinMo phonebooks, and HTC has addressed it by putting up some tabs on the top of the contact which enables you to view particular info about the contact by ‘clicking’ them.
Go to the product overview page to get more details.
Once it is released, you might be able to get it on pay as you go mobile phone deals.

HTC’s Touch Cruise – The Perfect Touch Screen Phone

The brand new HTC Touch Cruise PAYG is a great new phone from Samsung which offers a good set of features including a 3.2 mega pixel camera, high speed internet, a media player and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. I’ve also seen a few HTC Touch Cruise reviews which seem to suggest that this phone has a lot to offer and is definitely worth the purchase. I have to agree, I think the HTC Touch Cruise is a great phone with high quality features and it’ll probably be very popular with personal users throughout the UK and Europe. Also, the high quality brand name is a great asset for this phone.
I’ve also seen a lot of HTC Touch Cruise deals available and I think as we approach Christmas we’ll probably see a lot of mobile deals available and it’ll probably be a great time to get yourself a great deal on the mobile phone you want. I have to say I’d definitely recommend this phone to both personal and business users. I’ve seen that the HTC Touch Cruise contracts are available for free on most networks so that’ll probably be a very popular option indeed. All in all, it’s a great phone with a great look to it with a lot of high quality features inside.
Overall, the HTC Touch Cruise is a great looking phone with a nice set of high quality features and I think it’ll do very well in terms of sales this year and next year. It has everything a personal and business user could need and it stylish too. I’ve also seen a couple of HTC Touch Cruise videos which are definitely worth watching and I think that if you’re interested in this phone you’ll enjoy being able to see the phone in action before you buy it and you’ll also get a closer look at the features available.

A Closer Look at the HTC Max 4G

The brand new Max 4G from HTC is a great phone and is probably one of the best looking phones available as well as having a huge set of high quality features. The phone is equipped with a 5 mega pixel camera, high speed internet on WiFi and WiMAX, a media player, Bluetooth and of course FM radio. The phone also has video calling and GPS navigation on board. I’ve seen a recent HTC Max 4G review and it seemed to indicate that this phone is as good as it looks and is definitely worth buying. Personally, I really like this phone and I think it’ll do very well in terms of sales because it appeals to a lot of users.
I’ve also seen that the HTC Max 4G vodafone phone is probably the best value for money at the moment although if I were you I’d shop around a bit before you make a decision. I’ve also seen that mobile deals in general are getting better and I think a lot of people will be very happy with what they can afford this year. As we get closer to Christmas I think you’ll notice that HTC Max 4G contracts will be widely available and you should be able to get hold of the phone you want for a great price.
Overall, the HTC Max 4G is a great phone and is equipped with some great features. As well as the ones I’ve already mentioned, the Max 4G is equipped with Pocket Office so is great for business users too. The Beautiful and Powerful HTC Touch 3G

The recently launched HTC Touch 3G is a great new internet focused phone from HTC which offers a complete internet experience on a beautifully made and designed touch screen handset. I’ve got to say I’m very impressed with this phone and I’ve yet to find something wrong with it. The phone is simply amazing. I’ve also read a lot of HTC Touch 3G reviews which seem to agree that this phone simply has no flaws. It’s a perfect specimen of what HTC are capable of and the features are simply brilliant. The phone runs on Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 and has a great set of applications which all run smoothly.
I’ve seen a lot of HTC Touch 3G deals available recently and I think with the run up to Christmas there are a lot of mobile phone deals available and they’ll be getting better and better as the January sales approach. I’ve got to say how amazed I am with this phone it simply doesn’t have anything wrong with it. The HTC Touch 3G contract phone is literally packed with everything you could ever need and I’m pretty sure it works without a hitch at all. I’m super impressed with HTC and their most recent handsets – they’ve all been amazing.
Overall, the HTC Touch 3G is a great phone and I think a lot of people will be very proud to own one. I think many people will be pleased to use all the features and if you’re very interested in this phone then I’d suggest you watch the HTC Touch 3G video review that I have found. It’ll show you the phone in a lot more detail and it’ll give you the chance to see the phone in action before you buy it. All in all, HTC deserve a large pat on the back for their work this year and this phone is just a taster of what is yet to come.

A Closer Look at the HTC Touch Viva

The recently released HTC Touch Viva is a great new phone which offers a whole host of exciting features and is simply brilliant. The phone is equipped with a 2 mega pixel camera, GPS, WiFi, high speed 3G internet connections and a great media player. This phone really does have everything you could possibly need from a personal mobile phone. Also the phone is almost completely touch screen and is easy to use. I’ve read a lot of HTC Touch Viva reviews and most of them are very positive about this phone and I have to say that I’ve not actually seen a bad word said about the Viva.
I’ve also seen a lot of HTC Touch Viva deals available and as Christmas gets nearer I’ve noticed a lot of mobile phone deals becoming available at great prices. You should be able to get the HTC Touch Viva contract phone for free on most networks and in my opinion, it is well worth it; the phone has all you could need and is very sleek and stylish as a handset. I really like HTC phones and I always have and I think that this year they’ve done an amazing job with their phones.
Overall, the HTC Touch Viva is a great phone and I think a lot of people will be very happy to own one. I’ve seen a lot of hype over mobile phones recently and luckily the HTC Touch Viva has been involved. There is an HTC Touch Viva video review available which is definitely worth watching and if you’re interested in this phone I think you’ll enjoy seeing it in action before you buy it and I also think you’ll enjoy seeing the features up close. All in all, the Touch Viva is a great phone and I’d highly recommend it.
